Our Hedgehogs room is for children aged one month to two years, it is within a purpose-built extension with its own garden, changing facilities, and sensory and sleep room. The Hedgehogs room also has its own milk kitchen for preparing baby bottles. We have a wide range of resources such as musical instruments, small world toys, arts and crafts supplies, and cars and other vehicles to explore, as well as sensory toys for younger children. All children have a key person, who is there to care for them, record and track their development, and encourage them to settle in at nursery.

In Hedgehogs we accommodate every child’s routine. Every day the children enjoy a wide range of messy play, including pouring custard with different containers, exploring a small world scene with cereal sand and spaghetti jungles, or splashing sea creatures in blue cornflour! They also love playing outside in the Hedgehogs garden, which has a variety of baby-safe herbs and spices to smell, mirrors to explore, a sand and water area, as well as balls, bikes, and ride on toys to play with. Indoors, we also have the sensory room for the children to explore, which has a range of resources such as shiny stacking toys, shakers and instruments, and baby-safe light up resources. We also hold song time before lunch and tea and the children are encouraged to tell us what songs they would like to sing and join in with actions or clapping.
