Mealtimes

At Upperthorpe Nursery we place a strong value on nutrition as it is important to us to provide the children with freshly prepared healthy food to support their development and ensure they have all the energy they need to enjoy their day. All meals are cooked using fresh ingredients and local produce wherever possible. Our menus are planned to provide appetising, nutritious and balanced diets for the children and always include a vegetarian option.

We cater for children whose family religion or culture requires special diets, and we can also cater for dietary needs such as food allergies and diets prescribed for medical conditions. We are always happy to discuss your child’s specific needs with you and to be as flexible as we can.

Your choice of weaning will be supported by us so please discuss your preferred method with us. We ask that if your child requires a bottle whilst at nursery, you will provide the milk. We will support your choice of formula milk or breast milk as we have the facilities to prepare both. Breast milk will be stored in separate refrigeration facilities.

Our latest Environmental Health Inspection awarded us a maximum 5-star rating signifying that our catering facilities and food hygiene standards are excellent. Our food hygiene practices meet the requirements of the latest Food Hygiene Regulations as set out in the “Safer Food, Better Business” initiative.
